Picked up my kit today!

Busy day, finally got back home and unloaded the (absolutely huge) van I'd hired around 9pm.
I'm now the proud owner of a chassis, lots of intriguing shaped bits of aluminium and suspension to go with the somewhat rusty bits of old Sierra I've been acquiring.
Quite how all this becomes a car I don't know, perhaps everything will be clearer in the morning.
Much as I'd love to get on tomorrow, I've got to sort the garage out first... Lots of new tools and bits and pieces arrived this week too and its absolute chaos out there at the moment. Oh and I've got to work out why the gearstick on the Focus only centres itself from the 5th side of the gate and not 1st as its off to Le Mans in a couple of weeks and its a right pain missing 3rd gear all the time. Hopefully I'll get some panelling done, ought to set up a website too really. Aaargh so much to do, so little time :)

Car is a Striker
Had a bit of a nightmare with the very first chassis panel, but I think its all sorted now (thanks Matt and others on the Sylva list). Spent a lot of time in the garage with very little to show as the first thing to do is trial fit and drill the tunnel panels while access to them is easy. Then you take them out and forget about them for ages. Also managed to drill and seal one of the floor panels, might be out again popping all the rivets after dinner.

Yeah Dave, get that blog/website up and running!
I need constant reminders that "the load of bits in the garage" need human intervention before becoming road worthy
Having other people constantly making progress embarasses me into braving the leaky roof and actually getting on with it

We had this frustrating problem on our Focus and it had me worried that the 'box was knackered. However, my local dealer fixed it in no time for buttons, and this after I'd got Ford to pay half too as it was a low miler with FFSH and not long out of warranty. From memory it's just a spring that needs replacing and would have been about £50/60 full cost.
Seems like its a common problem on the Focus, quick Google soon found a guide to replacing the spring and the guy at the Ford parts desk knew exactly what I was talking about before I even finished telling him... Sent his mate to get 'one of those little Focus springs'. £3.50 and 30 minutes with a screwdriver later and all is well again

Website is now up(ish)... www.struck-out.co.uk
Still not managed to get the gf to actually do a design for it so its running on a very hideous orange default template, but the build diary is live anyway.
I'll be adding more content, build costs (if I dare work it out), intended specs etc and sorting out the look and feel once I get back from Le Mans.
