What broadband and landline deal?
Discussion
We are currently in a contract with BT for our landline, and this will end next month. Cost seems prohibitive, with an up-front payment giving us a month 'free' (yeah, yeah) at 219.84, and a monthly tariff which includes calls (we don't make many anyway). Upshot is that the landline is costing £411 a year. Add on to that our Plusnet broadband, of 174 a year and we have a heady £585. I'm sure we can reduce this, but don't want to just jump in. the other issue is that we have a second number through BT (so we know if friends or family are calling) which we'd like to keep, as it helps us filter out the unwanted calls, of which we get many even though we have marked the number as 'preference'. It appears to be a minefield, and I've already spent a long time looking at 'packages' which just seem to be geared towards broadband and want to 'add on' tv (we don't want.) nobody (even BT) seem to list the price of calls on their websites, although I suspect it isn't included in the 'line rental'. Can anyone knowledgeable offer any guidance?
thanks in anticipation.
