Hi all. Poking my head around the door after lots of years with TVR.

I used TVRSSW for looking after the tiv's and big Colin is happy to work on a DB9 but was just wondering if anyone in the SW, more specifically near Clevedon knows of a good specialist?

Happy for PM if we can't publically recommend.

Thanks in advance.
Mike

Maybe a bit far for you as they are based in Devon but just Google AJTech.
You won't find a better independent smile

Big recommendation for Will at AJTech - https://www.ajtech.co.uk just outside Newton Abbot.. Ex Grange and Appleby race engineer.

I've been incredibly happy with AM Bristol and in particular a member of staff there. And if there isnt a huge price difference then a very good proposition.

Service prices seem comparable to MD so if its less of a trek Bristol might be worth giving a call. They are accommodating and flexible and we arent used to things like that from bog std MD's! I find them great so you have two highly recommended options now smile

It's not just the price that puts some people off main dealers.
MDs have the habit of "upselling" and adding a huge list of things that they say needs doing urgently. I used to take my previous Aston to a MD and every year they tried to get me to "rectify" things that I knew didn't need doing e.g "door handle had reached limit of adjustment".
Needless to say 7 years later when I sold the car these "required" items had not be changed but the car was performing faultlessly.

Another thumbs up for AJTech from my workmate whose partner has a DB9 and a classic Jag. He uses AJTech for both.

Another plus is it's incredibly easy to get to and not in the middle of a town or anything like that (he's just round the corner from where I work).

None of that at Bristol in my experience Tim. My OS side-strake repeater has given up. I said I'd do it when i get the front end respray in spring - a 5" conversation smile

I think you'd have to give AM Bristol a look as they are so close. I'm just up the M5 in Gloucestershire. I used to use my local main agent (HR Owen), no complaints but after a while I gravitated to Bamford Rose who are near Moreton-in-Marsh, about 1 1/2 hours from you.

Another vote for AM Bristol. Always had excellent service and no up-selling. They were actually cheaper for my last service (4.3 V8 Vantage) than a well-known indy I contacted for a comparison.

A bump after three years in order to give another double thumbs up for Will and the team at A J Tech. They couldn’t have been more helpful, courteous, efficient or reasonable. Recommended without hesitation or reservation.

Absolutely agree. Just had my DB9 back from Will and the lads at AJ Tech. Fabulous work and price as ever.

As this thread has been bumped I'll just add that DAE (David Appleby Engineering) have now relocated just to the south of Bristol

I’ve used David Appleby for the last 12 years. Top notch! They just relocated to Wellington, about 30 mins from Clevedon. Give James a call, great guy.

This year I didn't use the MD I was previously praising here as comms were so poor (a friend did exactly the same) - was so used to having a chat with Nigel who knew me and my car over 7 years rather than some kid in a callcentre who could answer nothing and then being called back the once when I was in a meeting and emails/calling back failing. Have spoken to the decent service manager there since whom I've known many years stating I need better than that when its £850 for a basic oil change. I used McGurks who were OK but were a bit hesitant about looking into issues other than the core service (TPMS, exhaust switch etc). Appleby were too expensive for me although i'm sure their work is top notch.

It's just business and we all set our prices and I'll just say it as I find, sorry. Loved my previous excellent relationship with the MD though but it's them that let that go, not me.
