I've just done some work on our Skoda which involved disconnecting the battery. Now the central locking doesn't work. The fobs do nothing (except flash a red light on the fob itself); the interior lock/unlock button operates the front door locks but not the rear doors or boot.

Any ideas? The car starts and drives fine, I just can't lock the back doors or unlock the boot. I tried various recoding techniques I found online and none of them did anything at all.

Put the key in the ignition, turn the key to the "accessory position" , and hold the unlock button for at least 5 seconds.

Doesn't do anything. I don't think it's a key coding problem, or at least not only that because the interior switch doesn't work properly either.

Although to be fair, I'd never used the interior switch until this happened so it's possible it never worked properly.

Just in case anyone hits the same problem in the future and finds this thread, it turns out that the entire "comfort and convenience" ECU had reverted to its default state and needed reprogramming which apparently requires various codes to be generated on VW's servers. My local VAG specialist charged me £90 for it and now everything is working again.
