A real example:

WBAC offered £7640
Motorway offered £5800

Sold through Autotrader private sale £10,500

Why do people use these fraudsters?

People who are in trouble and need money fast.
People moving on dodgy motors that will sneak past the appraisers.
Or just those who can't be bothered messing about or don't know any better.

Why are they fraudsters?

You don't have to sell to them if you don't like the offer.

In what way are they fraudulent.

They offer to buy your car at a price. There terms are clear.

You accept the offer or decline to

I’m not seeing any fraud there.

Well, in my sister's case last week it was a choice of:

a) a few minutes of some bloke from WBAC noting the conspicuous levels of damage and mechanical issues (all declared) of her '57-plate Astra and offering her £675, rather than the £1,100 initial online price, then transfer the money immediately.

b) having to advertise; answer calls/texts/emails; deal with all manner of cretins questions, looking to knock the price down to scrap value levels, fail to turn up; potentially try and come back demanding assistance with mechanics' bills to fix the faults etc.

Bit of a no brainer at that end of the market.

Its a business, your choice if you don't wish to line their pockets.

Fraudsters ? Greedy profiteers ??
You don’t have to use them FFS. They are a business that buys cars at trade price or below.

It’s a business not a charity, they buy cars and sell them for a profit.

Do you rant about Waitrose buying potato’s from a farmer and then putting a mark up on them?

They are not always competitive especially at the low end of the market

They offer a speedy transaction, normally more money than dealers, safe guarded payment and you don’t have to deal with time wasters, joy riders, thieves, fraudulent payments, or have to deal with problems after the sale.

Well worth it IMO

Better to loose 10% than loose 30k from fraud or theft

10%? I think you’ll find the loss in my real example would be way more than that.

For my daughter's Swift Sport a while ago:

WBAC: £2100
Ev Halsh: £2400

Actual cars advertised on Autotrader £2000-£2500.

Fancy giving an accurate price and paying it instantly without my daughter having to spend money to advertise the car and then wait in for a bunch of strangers to turn up and decide as it's not a white Fiesta they don't want it.

Load of profiteering fraudsters these sites.

So they paid the equivalent of a private/dealer sale price? How very nice of them.

Maybe for a stty old banger, my AMG sold from a dealer for 5.8% more than I was paid for it, I can’t offer finance, warranty and p/x so I am not unhappy with my deal

Sell your car privately then. As others have said, it's your choice!

It will depend on what the car is, and if they have an underwriter bidding strong on them.

They didnt want your car, get over it.
