Bonnet Catch???

Any common symptoms as to why the bonnet catch on a chimaera wont lock shut?

On my A4, the catch was so clogged with grease and dirt it wouldn't spring back to hold the bonnet in place.

Make sure you push the cable right back in..maybe sticking?

Failing that, check the catch hasnt dropped - adjusting may help, mine had through years of use, and adjusting and tightening didnt really cure it, the fix was to replace the bonnet cable which had stretched, this coincided with my annual service so the mechanics did it... i believe though its not a particularly easy job because of access.

If the catch is n` t blocked , try taking off the " condom " ( sleeving ) on the bonnet piece which the catch holds when closed , if you see what I mean - this made closing mine much easier , but apparently it can make them rattle - varies car to car
