Passed the IAM test this morning

Had my [short notice] IAM test over at Bourne End this morning .... AND PASSED!:driving:
It was by no means perfect - I fluffed on a few things!
So I'd like to take this opportunity to thank [b]Don[/b] :clap: for his time and patience and giving me a run one evening - it was much appreciated and much of what we discussed stuck with me!

Erm .... it's not the real one unfortunately. The real one is on an XK8 up north somewhere. And
.... I got rid of the Merc a few weeks ago. I think that's a cue to update my profile. But I'd strongly recommend doing the IAM drives - well worth it - particularly when you consider the kinda folks involved - like Don (PH'er) and my own observer - an ex-racing driver and a thoroughly decent chappie indeed.
My perception of the IAM was lots of stuffy old farts (aka Will Carling) - but to be quite frank and honest - could not have been more further from the truth.

Beano - yeah - I see this as the 2nd rung of the ladder - the 1st passing the driving test (15+ years ago) - the 2nd the IAM test - then the 3rd onwards - just building on my skills - doing the Specialist IAM test, Observer test, etc,etc ...... I did just scrape the IAM test - so I have a long long way to go yet.

Well done on the pass Kinky; the trick is now to keep driving to the 'system' and to not slide back into bad habits!!
I'd like to second the motion that we're not all stuffy old farts!! (although I *did* used to have a Volvo..... bugger.)

So, you finally got the Chim and ditched the Volvo. 
Woo hoo! My country road driving is much better of late. I even managed to put a big smile on Peter Jackson's face the other week. 
And the Chim looks absolutely gorgeous. See you at a tyre kick soon.

@ Nick: Yeah - the next challenge as you say is to keep that level of skill up. I reckon I'll probably do a refresher run every few months with my observer (who lives around the corner).

Thanks for that link, very useful. One problem though - you have to parallel park??? Don't think I've done that since my driving test 6 years ago...
This may be something I do if I have some cash lying about, but I'll probably do a motorbike one first.
