My radio and cig lighter circuit stopped working, the fuse was okay but I changed it anyway, still no good. The fuse socket looked a bit green so I cleaned up the contacts with emery board, still no joy.
Any suggestions what to do next?

Multimeter on the terminals on the back of the socket and follow the wiring back until you get power

I would have thought any competent auto electrician should be able to track that down in five minutes. It's not a specialist job. As has been said, you've just got to follow the feed back until you find 12V.
