golf mk5 clocks/dash
Discussion
2008 golf 1.9tdi (pd engine)
no fault codes present
I drove the car fine on saturday. Went to start it Sunday, the clocks/lights never illuminated and i heard a faint crackling noise for a couple of seconds then nothing. I turned the key to start and the engine ran for a couple of seconds only.
All of the electrics work as normal.
I've read a bit which mention all sorts.
I changed the 460 (15 line in) relay but it made no difference.
My question is, to avoid replacing parts by trial and error, is the symptom above indicative of clocks burn out? Would the clock failure stop the engine from running?
Or hould i look at ignition switch, ignition module as possible sources of failure preventing the clocks from powering and making the immobiliser cut out the engine?
TIA
