Just ordered tickets for the Sunday at Goodwood and already excited about it.

Can anyone help with any "top tips" (not like don't go on Sunday) ie best places to stand, I presume that its a good plan to get there early.

Any pointers would be gratefully received.

its worth getting to the start line at some point when the race cars come out they queue before they set off, if your in the right place you can get pretty close with only a small timber fence in the way

yes get there early, very early !
biggest crowds on sunday, you dont want to stuck in a traffic jam a few miles out

Thanks Viper, I presume that it is as good as it's reputation suggests?

Are you going to the Festival of Speed this month or the Revival meeting in September?

The Festival of Speed at the end of June, not so much into the retro stuff.

Been going every year since it started and it has got sooo crowded I'm afraid but it is still the best petrolhead experiance going.
I will continue to go regardless of the crowds till i am in my box.

My advice get there very early, i mean get there by 8am at the latest, grab a coffee and immurse yourself in heaven.
I only now go on the friday now but it will take you two days to completely take it all in as a virgin.

Remember to post some piccies!!!

Agree with that. Personally I try yo avoid the F1 paddock unless its very early or very late (around 6.00 pm is good) and not Sunday.

Try to get stand tickets as well if you want to see the track action (like the guy who stuffed the Lambo last year!)

I've done it a few times, Sunday is generally bonkers busy but it is a fantastic event.

A good spot to watch the F1 is after the second main bend just as the climb begins. They always light it up around there!

I'm on for the Friday. I heard that low cars are not recommended. May have to bring the RAV 4 then rather than the RTS !

Parking in a field after queueing along the country lanes rather than blasting down them! Its petrolhead heaven once inside but no real need to arrive in the P&J.

We will be there in a Red Suzuki jeep (with yellow bonnet bulges), which is not what it seems, you'll know it when you hear it!

My first time was last year.

This year . . . all three days!

Amazing experience, you not only see the cars, wander around & touch 'em but talk to the drivers too!

Everyone there is soooo enthusiastic, from the public, trade stands, celeb's and drivers. Nothing like a race meet where no-one has time for anyone.

I'm hoping Friday will be a good day for action photo's.

I'll be going (1st time) this friday & am taking my 5yr old - should I take ear defenders for him or are noise levels acceptable?

cheers,

You can get as close as you like to F1 cars OTOH there are plenty of quiet places to walk round

I would take some just in case

It's looking like I will be coming on my own so where's everyone meeting

We need a time/place to meet, however I've never been before so I can't really suggest anything!
