996 Turbo Cab Leak
Discussion
Hi All,
So I’ve had a leak in the car, I’ve been told I can claim under insurance.
Just wanted to know if these problems are related to leak.
1) I notice that now I either have really cold air from air con or heating or hot air when I put it on “HI”, there is no in between when using range from “LOW” to 29C.
2) Drivers seat has sunk and electric heating no longer works.
3) Car battery drains fast.
4) Car entertainment system date thinks it’s year 2000.
There might be other issues.
Cheers
Sunil

Hi Sunil,
No, I don't think any of those issues is related to a water leak.
They all seem like they can have a fairly straightforward fix.
The air con issue sounds like a faulty climate control unit.
Drivers seat is most likely the heating elements which a trimmer can deal with.
Battery drain is probably down to the PCM unit anyway but can be checked. I'd replace the PCM with something more modern anyway. Something like a Sony XAV-AX100 is a reasonable cost and offers carplay.

Actually all issues were in fact related to the water leak.
I’m absolutely gutted as the car has been written off, was going to cost over £30k to replace all interior electrics.
Real shame as the car was looking mint as it had just been resprayed.
Cheers
Sunil
