Engine cleaning

Any advice on how to clean the engine while still in car, I don’t want to use a pressure washer if I can help it, the top end is just dirty with age and the lower half a bit oily, so I need to clean it to see where the leak is

Cover as much of the electrical bits you can see with bags and elastic bands.

Then spray everything with bilt hamber surfex hd. Agitate with a brush then hose it all down.

Dry everything you can reach.

Cheaper and arguably better than Surfex HD is Screwfix's own degreaser which can be diluted depending on application. I use it for my car, my oven and it's been known to remove oil stains from a driveway

You'll need gloves.
