Not sure if anyone has seen the news last couple of days with this chef causing a little bit of a storm in a teacup regarding an advert for new front of house staff at his restaurant in Leeds.
He has an advert asking for CV's to be submitted along with a recent photograph. The usual social justice warriors are up in arms claiming all sorts and that it is verging on illegal to ask for a photograph.
He has played it down with a rather direct reponse
"Twitter is so Agro man.
"For the record photos with a CV is a popular euro thing and it makes it easy to identify people afterwards. It’s not a discrimination thing I don’t care about colour, gender or looks. I’m not trying to f*** them I just want them to carry plates for me."
Is it really that bad and frowned upon to ask for a photograph with CV?

He is opening himself up to a can of worms asking for pictures as at some point someone will pull the 'discrimination' card regards why they were / weren't selected for interview etc, lots of cases of testing these theories out there with candidates with non English being offered interviews for roles they have applied for that they had been rejected for under their given names, a picture is a step on from that.

It wouldn't fuss me.
It just strikes me as being probably superfluous, given the growth of social media and the fact that most employers will look at people's social media profiles as part of the recruitment process.
I confess to facebook stalking when recruiting. Public sector (NHS) means you dont get names until after shortlisting but its amazing what people put on open profiles. It just strikes me as being probably superfluous, given the growth of social media and the fact that most employers will look at people's social media profiles as part of the recruitment process.
