Wife is looking to replace our old Golf and is considering a Polo GTI 1.8 probably from 2016 onwards.
Does anyone have experience of these, good or bad, or is there anything we should be aware of ?

Hi, I have a 66 plate Manual had it for a year now and I've put 10,000 miles on it. Overall I like the car, it's got plenty of torque (Manual has more torque than the DSG), MPG is great for the performance sitting at 75mph I get 42MPG, gearbox is good and slick and interior still looks smart with good connectivity.

They seem to be holding their value well compared to the Fiesta ST of the same vintage and have a bit more upmarket image.

The negatives I have are that the engine sound isn't fab, its bassy low down but not particularly exciting, seating position is a little high I'm 6'1 and the ride can be too firm for some.

Overall a good little car (size makes it really easy to drive).

Hope this helps.

Wife's had a 2015 since new, it's great. Bit stiff, but it's like a little terrier. Bit more comfortable than the Fiesta ST.

It's a manual, however. DSG will be dry-clutch and slower due to the lower torque limit on that box.
