Seriously thinking this may be better than PDK.

Any thoughts on this?

If 991 sales are anything to go by then 90% would disagree but maybe there will be a resurgence in demand for manual 911s after the popularity of all the limited edition manuals of the past few years!

Saw something about the release date on Jalopnik, I think, 2020 in the US.

It's a matter of choice.

If you're good at heeling/toeing then a manual gearbox gives you the option of demonstrating your skill in a way that's impossible with a Pdk.

My 992 doesn't have that option, but the Pdk is bloody good especially across country on a good road.

It’s a question of how you’ll use the car and what your priorities are! Daily driver hard to look past PDK, if it’s a weekend fun car I think there are other cars than a 992 Carrera/ Carrera S I’d be choosing as I think it’s more a GT car than a Sports car if I am honest. So despite being a manual gearbox fan I think I’d have PDK...GTS different question and wouldn’t be surprised if the manual gearbox is launched at the same time. Given people are expecting GT3 next year I assume the GTS will come before that.

When you’ve done a few days of commuting in your electric car you’ll be glad that your 911 has a manual box. I suspect in 10 years or so, people looking to pick up an ‘old’ 911 will pay a small premium for a manual. There are lots of examples of this with an extreme one in one of this weeks articles (the manual Gallardo for sale at 30K more than equivalent paddle shift car).

The manual adds a tactile layer of interaction and punctuates the acceleration. On the other hand PDK is better in every measurable objective way, particularly if you consume your flat white and breakfast roll in the car!

Even if you're not, it doesn't matter as the rev matching in Sport & Sport+ modes is very good.
