Stupid question...

The tax on my motorcycle ran out last week, but I couldn't retax it immediately because my insurance certificate hadn't arrived (despite several calls to the insurer 
). The certificate finally arrived this morning. I meant to buy the tax today but have ended up working all day. If I go out for a ride tomorrow, with the request form and the insurance certificate in my pocket will I:
a) Be treated with sympathy and commonsense
b) Appear on the front page of the local newspapers next week as a child murdering despot and made to feel the full weight of the law
I think I know the answer...but live in hope of having at least one or two hours' of fun this weekend...
