Been reading a lot in the papers just lately about her new book, a biography of Mao. Did anyone take in Wild Swans? Must pop into Derby tomorrow and pick up this up, just watched a short programme about it on 4.

No doubt the biggest killer the planet has ever known, 38 million.

wild swans was really hard going,all that needless waste. remeber doctors having a target for steel prodution,you couldnt make it up.

Mao was dictator for an awful long time - surely that took a bit of talent.

Maybe not as inept as Jung Chang paints him.

..and thats without the tens of millions more that died as a result of the famine brought on by his idiotic and disasterous economic policies.
