I should really know the answer to this but as I have not used a standard car battery charger for years and years and with advances in battery technology I thought I'd ask the experts heretofore making an expensive mistake!

Basically my Vantage battery was replaced about 2 month ago with a Yuasa Silver 100ah battery

https://www.halfords.com/motoring/bulbs-blades-bat...

For the first time in nearly ten years my battery has gone flat - dead flat - in about 2 weeks of non use. I have a smart charger but its going to take ages to charge the battery up so I thought I d buy a cheap and cheerful standard battery charger to get it done quickly and then see what the hell has caused the drain.

Thats when the trouble started - I thought I could buy any old lead acid battery charger of about 6amps (battery has a bench charge rate of 6amp hours) and off I go. But when you read the item descriptions in Argos, Halfords etc they all say suitable for a car battery up to 2 Its. or some other issue.

So basically, can I just by this from Argos for £20 and it will work ok?

Or do I need some super dooper charger for this battery?

I’d stick with the smart charger. If it’s a CTEK or similar it’ll not only charge the battery but condition it as well.

Shouldn’t be more than 48hrs to get it fully conditioned I’d have thought ?

I should have said it’sa motorbike smart charger and chargers at 0.8 amp so I imagine a long time to charge this battery up

Personally i would always go with a CTEK or similar. If CTEK then the MXS 5 - Amazon probs the cheapest.
