Hey guys,

Hope you are all well.

Need a bit of advice. The other night around 1700 i was riding my bike in a 60 limit. I decided to overtake on a safe to do so stretch of road no oncoming traffic straight for around 1 mile. I accelerated, while over taking i noticed the bloody police camera van on the right.

I looked at my clocks and I was doing 82MPH FFS. so I pulled in and passed the van at 60MPH rolleyes . Last thing I expected was this guy in the dusk hours!!!

Anyway guys how does it look? What am i likely to receive form the cops? I've got a clean license with currently no points on it.

I've had my license for 20 years+

Cheers fellas frown

Some info here - https://www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk/blog/speedin...

Assuming your speedo isn't accurate at 80mp you will more than likely get the standard 3 points / fine or a driving awareness course.

Those band a , b , c offences only occur if I understand it if you plead not guilty and take it to court

Expect a £100 fine and 3 points assuming your within the threshold.

Fingers crossed the camera guy wasn't paying attention at the time. Happened to me 👍
Otherwise hope for a speeding awareness course 👍

An indicated 82 may only be 70ish if its anything like the hopelessly optimistic speedo on my Triumph. I reckon a camera in a 60 will nick anyone doing over 70mph so you'll probably be ok.

Since you don't have a front plate, you may be lucky and he may not have been bothered.
Passing the van at 60 is irrelevant as he can gun you a good distance away.

I had a similar experience in a car in that kind of situation. I assume they were packing up, but I never heard anything.

This may help you?

By the time you looked at your clocks you would have shut the throttle and maybe braked so you may have been going faster?
They do have to turn the camera around so may be lucky? Just a nervous couple of weeks?

Unfortunately not always the case. Excessive speed can mean that you won't necessarily get the option of a fixed penalty of any description and it's straight to court on their say so.

It's a fact I'm more than comfortably familiar with.

I got caught at 76 in a 60 a couple of months ago by a camera van. They would have offered the speed awareness course but I had already done it and got the 3 points/£100 fine scenario.

They generally don't hang about sending that st out so fingers crossed your good to go, even if your unlucky its 3 points at most, i got a summons this year for 83 in a 50 (dual carriage way ) 3 points was my punishment .
