I was behind a Q3 the other day, probably one of the first 69 pates I’ve seen. There was a 35 badge on the back followed by Tfsi, can someone enlighten me please, what is the 35 referring too?

They make a "40" and a "45" as well.
Probably means about as much as "45" on a Rover, or "6" on a Mazda.

Nothing to do with engine capacity.

And the rest of them that agreed with it.
Can understand if they made models mixing ICE and Electric and Hybrid but they don’t.

Don't think the new power 'labelling' has really caught on?

My Mrs has a Q2 30 tdi (1.6 diesel), we've had loads of comments about it being a 3.0 litre, I've given up trying to explain and the Wife doesn't know what size engine it is anyway so we're not helping to 'educate' them...

Probably best doing a badge delete if buying a new one, as its totally confusing for most folk.

I couldn’t care less if others didn’t know what size engine I had.

I thought the same too.
What a sleeper, understated, under tyred, loads of power.
Then I looked on the Audi website and was disappointed, and still confused as to the reason.

makes no sense whatsoever, it’s just Audi wanting to make x amount of differently tuned/powered 1.6 and 2.0 engines. Life at bmw is so much easier... sigh I’m die hard bmw but have recently come over to the dark side (VAG)

I'd not say BMW is much better.

"oh you drive a 330i - is that the 3 litre?" "oh the 540i a 4 litre?"

Audi have tried to be future proof with it, so its based on power produced, but its not clear unless you do the maths, ultimately does it matter?

Merc has a c63 which isnt 6.3 litres either.

Maybe it was Rachel from Countdown; it seems to be this:-

Horsepower = (Badgenumber)squared divided by 8.4.
