Converting early M-series wishbone to later bushes.

I have no experience in doing this and have never heard of it being done. The obvious question is why? Wouldn't it make the wishbone weak and have the potential of then failing - sounds like a scary thing to do.

Why change to the later ones.

At a guess I'd think the cost of reaming or machining out the wishbomes will out weigh any saving on bushes (unless you consider the bushes to be an annual service item)?
