Unfortunately my lad thought his BMW 118d (F21) was amphibious, it isn't rolleyesmad

We have recovered the car which had 6 inches of River Trent in the footwells and drained and gutted the interior to dry and sort the electronics. All seats, carpets and interior trim have been removed and are drying, we are running a dehumidifier to dry it as best as possible. I will dismantle, blow dry and clean all electric connections and I will check out the engine for hydrolock before we try to restart it. I have disconnected the battery and recharged it but as soon as I connect it the electrics are all over the place:

wipers on permanent
Not recognising the car key unless I hold it against the steering column and then forgetting it as soon as I move it away
All sorts of drive carefully and get service messages

I am hoping that drying and cleaning the connections will solve the problems but realistically this is unlikely to be the case. Any pointers or tips on the electrics on these cars that might help me get sorted for example main fuses etc?

Thanks in advance

The car has a lot of ECUs which are probably full of water and dead.
