I'm sure you have all seen this already.
What do you guys think? Anyone is smitten already, planning to purchase?

Fugly.

ETA. The rear wheel and swingarm looks odd. Like a stretched drag bike setup.

laugh that was quick

30mm longer swingarm, 48mm longer wheelbase. Quite a change from the short agile Fireblade of yore.

Definitely more track than road now.

I think it looks great personally, I’ll have a go on one but doubt I’ll purchase, maybe when used ones appear on the market.

No mention of a price so far but guess will be at least £20k?

I really don’t like the looks of it but maybe it’s better in the flesh.

Does this completely replace the current model? It mentions a -R model and a SP model. Does that mean the current model can continue as the basic Fireblade? I assume not though.

It sounds like they're jumping the gun a bit, expecting there to be at least two models in the range being a "normal" one and the SP with active Ohlins etc.

Personally I really like the looks, even the exhaust which gives it a bit of a 90s theme. The new benchmark for everyone seems to be 200kg wet and at least 200hp, mental.

I think it looks quite good. Bit tighter, more aggressive thing. Love the return to proper exhaust cans.

Absolutely no plans on purchasing one unless I win the lottery - the only place it would "work" for me is on a Euro trackday, but I now only do one a year and the prospect of cartwheeling a £20k bike through a gravel trap is unthinkable.

Fair play to anyone that buys one for the road and derives pleasure from pootling around on it.

Any variable valve type timing tech?

Headline figures of power and weight look good, but will it drink oil and/or blow up!

I guess Honda going all out to win WSBK, which is fair enough but will this mean the Fireblade is no longer the best superbike for the road?

I want to get a litre sportsbike next year and was hoping the Fireblade could be it, but I just don’t like the looks of that (superficial I know, but the aesthetics are really important to me). All of the bikes in this class will be a thousand times more capable than me as a rider, so how it looks and how (relatively) practical it is are important to me.

Really like the new S1000RR - think it looks great and seems more suited to the road (low down torque, relatively comfortable, good electronics etc). Even cheaper than most alternatives. But worried by the odd negative comment about reliability, something which wouldn’t be a concern with the Honda.

I really like the look of that but would be totally wasted on me.

My old 848 used to scare the life out of me with 'only' 140bhp, so the likes of these modern superbikes I can't imagine having much fun on.

Why not the outgoing SP model then? All the looks you could want.

I don’t think they’re available anymore. I spoke to a dealer 2-3 months ago and there weren’t many left then.

yes

Mind you, it will have to be good to tempt me away from a (hopefully) discounted end of year Gixer…..

Not for me thanks. If it had an underseat pipe it would look a lot like the 2004 model imo.

If going for road only I reckon the V2 Panigale could be sweet.
