Headlight Lense

On our returnn trip from Honfleur my Dad's Chimaera's n/s headlight glass got smashed .. Does anyone know is you can buy just the lense or is it a whole replacement unit. It looks like you should be able to buy just the lense and not the whole unit, but you never know !!

Any ideas ?

Yes you can. Had mine replaced at a dealers, but you can do it yourself if you wish. You will need the lens a new rubber seal and some sealant. I think the actual lens comes from some truck, but you should be able to get one from any TVR place.

What happened to the post a few months ago about the plastic cover on headlights? (The one that the last few Chims had) A few people (me included) were quite interested in the possibility of these. Would also help protect the lenses.

I think they do not fit on older chims or it is a lot of work

yep, got one from TMS (TVR gear) a while back. Not too bad to fit - unbolt the surround, cut away sealant and remove old one, reverse the process...

How much did it cost and how long to do?? Must look a treat!

dont remember exactly but dont recall it being expensive - £20 - £25?? cant honestly remember though. Just looked very clear compared to the other side after I cleaned off the chrome surround before replacing the lens

oh, and took me about an hour including removing/refitting the ridiculous earlier model grill to get access to the bolts holding the headlight cowels in place.

Think there is some confusion here. I think Steve1c thinks you are talking about the headlight covers. I think you are talking about a new lens.

If you are talking about a cover I would be very interested.
