MK1 Gaps around the radiator?

Can someone tell me if the gaps you see in the photos around the radiator sides and bottom should be filled in/up to stop air "leaking" around the radiator, or am I just being paranoid

Should have some foam/draft excluder to fill the gap

Car Builder Solutions was where I sourced mine and I did not have to double layer it was nice and thick , stayed put for the last 3 years too
