This is my MP that regularly calls for the Government to build more new homes, at a meeting to block, yes you guessed it, more new homes

Which one? They all look like would be Labour MPs.

Perhaps they're arguing the case for the homes.

Perhaps they’re objecting to the type or density of homes, the proposed designs, preparations for school provision etc.

But NIMBYs tend to look the same, whatever thier political persuasion.

The green belt is their objection, yet the people complaining are the same ones that complain their children can't get homes in the area.

Maybe they think we should redevelop brownfield sites before extending into the green belt? Doesn't seem an unreasonable suggestion to me.

I am absolutely against building on the green belt land.

It’s the only thing stopping the South East becoming extended London.

Well, my understanding is that this green belt used to be covered with coal mines, it is surrounded by old miners cottages, so I'm not sure it is green belt, not that I am against that as the need for housing is greater than the need for grass

There's currently people kicking off near where I live because they want to build about 3,000 new homes, 2 schools, a GP surgery, and shops on about half a dozen empty farmers fields, that are surrounded by 3 of the busiest dual carriageways in this area, it's madness, pretty sure one of the people objecting was quoted in the paper saying "nobody wants new schools or a GP." rolleyes On the plans it looks like they're planning to plant at least 1,000 trees as well, but all the whoppers on Facebook are going on about disappearing "greenbelt", yet there'd be more trees planted than are currently in that area.

More worried about the price of their houses dropping when a substantial number of new houses go on the market more like.

They may be cynical that the developer will build the 3000 homes then mysteriously go out of business before building the GP surgeries etc.

Not that that ever happens.

Or maybe do something with the 200,000 empty properties first. Be a start.

They're throwing up new estates in my little town. By the time they've done they'd be better off just selecting a patch of countryside and building another whole new town, with all the relevant facilities, rather than overstretching existing ones.
