Well, it finally happened and I have swapped my TVR for a 911.

The Boxster went a few weeks ago as well, so for the 1st time in over 15 years, I have no V8 or convertible in my life.

Thanks to all the PH TVR community for their help and friendship over the years.

I had a cracking Stag for 8 years and do find myself looking at them again lately as they look and sound fantastic.

Be interested to know which 911 you went for, an itch ive always wanted to scratch myself but keep talking myself out of it!
Would have loved a 996 Turbo but the prices have rocketed the last few years.

Hope all goes well with the new car, Graham, and it's not open season on the wallet.

I understand the problem - I am at such a loss as to what to have instead of a TVR that I still have mine.
I rather suspect that if I did part company with it I wouldn't replace it with anything.

It’s the base 3.4 996 but with the Aero kit it is a sheep in wolfs clothing! Still a very fast sheep though. If you want a convertible I would recommend a Boxster. Mr Phazed is a big convert but he might not admit that on Pistonheads....

Hi Peter, I hope that I enjoy it as well. My good lady wife certainly approves and I will bring it along to the Teal soon and park it as the far end of the car park

Thanks Anthony. Open wallet season can be a concern with these cars and I am keeping everything crossed!

If I had more space, I would have started a collection but I don’t have that luxury!

I have a 996.2 C2 in my garage keeping the Chim company.

Both very different cars but great fun none the less.

Fully understand the sentiments on this thread.
After 5 years I've put my 3rd Chimaera up for sale as it's not getting used. I bought a SL500 a while back to run alongside it and decide which I wanted most. Couldn't decide so put the SL up for sale as well to see which one sold.
Now have people interested in both, still not sure which I like best, and could end up with neither.

Thought I'd see what I could get for the money if both sold.
Doesn't help, the best I can buy with the money is probably a Chimaera and an SL500....

^^^^^^^ hehe
When you finally get to own a Tvr, for all the faults and moans and groans, there’s nothing that compares for the money really so once it’s gone it’s just a black hole, do something else entirely is your best bet maybe.
Get a ppl or something as nothing’s quite as exciting as a Tvr overall, sound smell, it’s all there, hand made race car feel, it’s just they don’t have any luxuries, but then nor did any real man’s sports car roflgetmecoat

I used to have a Chimaera 500 and an SL55AMG. Sold them both a while ago and not felt the need for another Merc but I did recently
buy another Chimaera?

I've been looking around at 911s ,after a bit of research it's got to be a 997.gen 2 ,anything before water cooled is a time bomb unless it's a turbo.

Nothing like a change Graham.

I've still got my TVR tucked up in the garage.

My new addition to the fleet.

Crappy phone photo.

Love the leccy roof, a/c, adjustable suspension, traction, abs, etc, etc, oh and yes, most importantly the outstanding handling.

Peter, is your conversion to the merits of ABS in any way related to seeing me arriving at speed up your chuff at the last corner at Snetterton, slicks fully locked up and in a cloud of tyre smoke? redcard

Your Boxster has got all the desirable options on it as well plus Zenon/Hids, the one you probably don't appreciate until you drive the car with halogen headlights!

Ah, late breaking! One of the ways of catching up. One of my favourites! Of course it all goes pear shaped when the tyres come to the end of their gripping capabilities!

The modern facilities remind me of that track day, five or six years ago at Castle Combe with snow lying on the Enfield and sleet falling all day.
My trusty Skoda was pressed into action and all I could hear all day was the chatter of the ABS on every bend and the other chatter of the traction control when accelerating out of every bend!

One of my favourite track days which would’ve been absolutely appalling in the TVR!
