new looking for
Discussion
hi i was hoping anybody may be able to help me,i am new to the forum.
after going to many kitcar shows during the late 80's,i fell in love with the jago geep,as i have always loved the ww11 willys jeep.i remember an article in a well knowm kitcar magazine that done a feature on a guy who built an almost exact replica, complete logo's and tools, using modified landrover rims on to ford hubs,i have never owned a jago to date, but after raising the kids, may well be in the hunt for a project of a simular nature,is there any one who remembers this feature from the mag,or has any info of a cheap jago.or has anyone undertook this type of job on,i also need any info of what model had the flat bonnet and arches.thanks anyhelp would be appreciated

ebay is the place to start looking and join the owners club as they can be found for sale in club mag there are at least 2 military styled geeps as ive seen them at various shows. as the tub was origionally moulded from a willys genuine stuff should fit the early geeps [or jeeps as they were called then] are the ones with the flat bonnet and no extention to rear arches and genuine willys style front wings. good luck
Shows - Newark in 2 weeks time that is the biggie.
For your project you will probably have to get a later Sandero much the same - except for the front wings and the bulge in the bonnet and do some work to get it right. (But then the work is half the fun - except when it is raining like it is here today and I was finishing my hood - until a drill bit broke.)
Maybe you will find what you are looking for at Newark - if not keep an eye on ebay.
It is a long way to travel from the Midlands - but have you looked at Driftwood's post on Friday?

If you check out the "Any colour you like...." thread that is an early Anglia based Jeep , it has the flat wings (they are the oversized ones for 8x15 wheels) and it has the star moulded into the bonnet.
Sadly it has been rather heavily modified with the welding torch . It features an Escort crossmember to support the pinto engine and just ahead of that another identical one for the steering rack etc , the rear has been chopped about to fit a mk 2 axle there is a steel bulkhead and more bits of angle iron than Steptoe's yard! it is probably more suited to placing on a donor chassis like a Suzuki or similar.
As my intention is to build a , shall we say, more high powered version this will probably end up providing parts for a number of needy causes , I feel the overall integrity of this particular vehicle has been compromised at the mercy of the cutting torch......but there again what do you expect when its "free"

it just so happens that while looking for "stuff" I have found a copy of that article (sept 1994 Kit Cars International)
if anyone wants a copy it's here:
