Hi all,

Just curious about the RoverGauge program I’m hearing about here on the forums. It’d be nice to have to assist with diagnostics on my Griff and so before I buy the cable and download the software, I just want to make sure this’ll work on my car. Also, where’s the connection point for the plug and is there a specific version of Windows that RoverGauge needs to be on to run? Attached is the photo I found of the cable. Is this the one to get?

Cheers,
Aaron

Yes, you need the RS-RV8 app and of course, the same cable(s) as you'd need for a PC/laptop.

The android version is a lot harder to configure than the Windows version- basically you have to set it up to show just what sensors you want or else the screen gets far too complex on a phone. A Windows tablet will work well, but in both cases you need a small adaptor plug to convert to from the cable USB plug to the small USB port on the phone or tablet. Best bet is an old laptop, and you can either load of the CD supplied if it has one, or download from dropbox if you dont have a CD drive, Both Windows RoverGauge and the Android version will run without connection if you want to get the handle on how they work.

All about the android version:

Dropbox download for windows:

Just copy the entire RoverGauge folder onto your PC and run the RoverGauge program from inside the folder.

If you prefer avoiding Microsoft you can also download the source and build from the authors site at https://github.com/colinbourassa/rovergauge and build/run under Linux - works well too.

You need one of these https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/parts-and-... and a full size USB to whatever size connector the S8 has.

Hi Mark,

Is there a way to PM you so I can get the bits I need for the RoverGauge? I didn’t see an email when I clicked on your username.

Cheers,
Aaron

You should have received an OTG (on the go) connector with your S8 - it allows you to connect full size USB to the USB-C port on the phone. You can plug in all sorts of USB devices using this connector, eg mouse, keyboard etc
