Is a corsa vxr worth it with my budget?

I’m looking to buy my next car soon, i just need to clean up mine and get it back to stock. My budget is probably around 4-5 grand, in my opinion a corsa d vxr seems the best option as they’re cheap, insurance isn’t bad i got quoted 1.4k without a blackbox, they’re quick and they look really good. Forgot to mention i’m 19, been driving 2 and a half years with 2 years ncb, no points on my license, done pass plus if you’re wondering why insurance is cheap. I’d love to hear your guys’ opinions though because i cant really think of any other car besides a corsa vxr.
I found our Corsa VXR underwhelming when we had one (had a 2016 vintage one), though I admit for a 19 year old it's a different prospect!
If you're willing to look at something older, a Clio 182 (or 197 if you wanted something more recent) are a good shout and we much prefer the Clio's we've owned over the years than the Corsa we had.

Honestly, I'm only a couple of years older than you - don't bother.
Every one I see these days that isn't the current gen look shagged with the exception of the Nurburgrings (which are out of your budget).
I'm stereotyping here - but they are the car of choice up here for undesirables. No doubt with time you'd manage to track down a looked after one, but they just weren't the enthusiasts choice from what I remember when they came out. Not to mention the cylinder issue which most will have at some point. Most have been ragged and probably not maintained properly.

Citroen DS3 1.6T (Same engine as the Mini)
I'd recommend:
Abarth 500 as another poster mentioned. If you can find one with the Monza exhaust (4 pipes) they sound mental for a 1.4.
Mini Cooper S R53, once again as mentioned already. These fly with a reduced supercharger pulley and handle like go karts.
Renaultsport Clio/Megane. Any of them really, search them up on here and you'll see why.
Civic Type R EP3. Careful with these, plenty of them are dogs these days so check it out properly and make sure its had the valve clearances done.

Got my standard vxr at 18 and loved it, low mileage 64 plate for about 1k over your budget, recently traded it in for a nurburgring edition and it drives like a completely different car. Handling is vastly improved over the standard one. I agree for your money there are better options than a vxr but insurance is the killer but as an introduction to more powerful cars they are a great starting point for any young driver.

Also, take a look at unusual cars for your age group as often the insurance is lower on these, e.g. fast saloons/estates like a BMW 330i, Volvo etc,

I had a Renaultsport Megane 265 at 20, and it cost me less than a grand to insure. It's a little more than your budget though.
Early Mk3 RS250's are starting to creep into the 5k bracket now. They're tough cars, and take abuse well.
I would avoid the Corsa VXR. I work at a vauxhall breakers yard. The corsa D body's rot. The sub frames rot. The M32 gearboxes are made of chocolate. The engines in the VXR's are terribly unreliable, 4th piston is always first to go (get a compression test done and if cylinder 4 is lower than the others at all then its on its way out.
