Went away with work to Germany last week. One night (Wed) we ate in a nice place (good trip advisor reviews) and I (only me) had some type of German beef stew.
Ate 2 bites and discovered it was ice cold in the centre. Sent it back.

Sunday night I start aching all over. Monday morning I feel like I’m dying. Been docs they’ve took a stool sample. Had to rush in again today as last night I got in the shower on full heat and cried I was in that much pain from my skin tingling, shaking and stting.

Any tips to help this pass quicker?

Only liquid I can stomach is water or Ribena cordial. Just tried a can of coke and though my belly was going to explode.
When the shaking starts all I can do is get in a red hot shower.

Feeling very very sorry myself atm.

I'm afraid whatever 'it' is, is inside your system now. Only time and your own immune system will beat it. You can however just drink loads of water knowing that you're effectively flushing everything out of your system a little quicker

Make the coke flat. And be sure it's full fat. Bottles obv easier than cans. A sprinkle of sugar in the glass works. Consider watering it down too if it's too flavourful for you.

Dioralite is a salt replacement drink in powder form. Good to have.

Keep drinking. Monitor your piss colour to ensure hydration.

Bland carbs, mash, potato waffles, rice with a vague sauce (even a bit of bisto). Plain crisps also.

A daily multivitamin.

Some anti diarrhoea caps to reduce cramping.

Do not overeat fruit or drink a ton of OJ. Both are laxative.

Flushable toilet wipes.

Sleep on a big, thick, old towel.

Never, ever, ever trust a fart. Always burp your arse over the bowl.

Can you guess I've had similar? I call mine the Delhi Diet. One meal and shed kilos in days. Some on a very long plane journey. Ugh.

ETA - OJ, not PJ....

Are you sure it's food poisoning? If you ate on Wednesday and only started getting ill on Sunday that seems unlikely.

I was under the impression food poisoning came on pretty quickly?

This was my understanding, and certainly my experience, food poisoned on a Sunday evening after a dodgy prawn curry from local take away, knocked me for six, I lost a stone in a week, had a week off work, fever, couldn't keep anything down, was finally getting back to some normality on the Friday afterwards.

Ate on the Sunday evening, few hours later I was already suffering, and a few hours after that I was wrecked.

A very large cork?

Other than, as said above, keep hydrated and accept that bit by bit you will flush the bug through your system.
I was in a dreadful state many years ago, it took about a day for some oysters to wreak havoc. But sounds like you are much, much worse.

That also risks turning yourself into a messy human howitzer.

Makes little difference and based on an old wives tail The high amount of sugar and caffeine would cause more issues than nothing at all. Electrolytes are what you need coke has none, along with water.

I thought that - was at a function and people were rushing to the toilets within 30 mins of eating.

But a quick Google says it can be days, or even weeks.

Thanks for the advice guys.
They took blood samples off me as well to rule out/prove flu.

Used to do regular trips to Chennai about 15 years ago when it was still a major building site, almost guaranteed to get the screaming sh!ts every time i went, usually a pissed mistake on my part and get a nightcap G&T with ice at some point,

My standard survival kit was

Imodium tablets
Charcoal tablets
berocca tablets
An extension cable

Take Imodium and charcoal tablets as instructed
drink plenty of berocca for fluids and vitamins

Plug extension lead in and run into toilet, take chair from desk in hotel room and place infront of bog, plug laptop in and use chair as desk, spend day sitting on stter.

Before settling in, get as much sealed bottled water and bog roll as possible.

put extra bog roll in fridge as teh old torn balloon knot will appreciate the cooling effect in a few hours.

As mentioned, whatever its is is now in you and moving through your system, you just have to weather the storm and wait for nature to do its thing.

I had campylobacter about 20 years ago. It lasted 2 weeks and is the only time in my life where I genuinely, consciously wondered whether I was going to die. It was f* hideous. I was told it is the only form of food poisoning which responds to anitbiotics and I didn't improve until they decided it was campylobacter and gave me the pills. It's also notifiable, I had to answer loads of questions from the environmental health people about where I had eaten in the past few weeks.

To this day it has left me with a less-robust digestive system than I ever had before. I have an attack of cramps and squits a couple of times a year.

Worth asking about this OP.

I had to have a colonoscopy preceded by a dose or two of Moviprep (like the legendary Picolax). The cure for the ring of fire is Vaseline applied liberally between explosions.

4 days for food poisoning to come on?

That's some serious gestating bug if it was from your German stew. More likely something else afterwards.

Check out gastric flu - my OH had it a few weeks back and it's just like food poisoning.

Gastric flu would be my guess too.
Had it a few years back and it sounds like what your going through.
Keep taking in fluids and get plenty of rest.
