Have I got a dummy exhaust tailpipe?

2016 440i GC. Have I got a dummy tailpipe?

With the colder weather and the steam visible from the exhaust(s) I noticed in the rear camera I have only got one tailpipe working. It appears that my (when looking from behind) LH pipe is not actually, well, exhausting!

It appears I have a vanity pipe! I had no idea. I feel a bit embarrassed.

I'm hoping that it will burst into life at high revs or in Sport + mode or something like that, please tell me this is the case!

It has a flap that opens and closes. You can 'fix' it to stay open all the time. Google will tell you how

the flap stays closed when the engine is cold to cut on noise and aid a slightly quicker warmup, the flap opens more when the engine is warm.
