Proof of the Pudding..

I have been reading a few very interesting posts latley about purchasing things without proof they 'do what they say on the tin'... I guess we are all guilty of that as we bought TVRs which clearly do not 'do what they say on the tin'
Exactly! Which is why we do not want to be fleeced with another product that does not do what it says on the tin.

I asked this on another thread and didn't get a reply, but God loves a trier, so I'll chip it in again ... is it reasonable to expect much certainty when you buy performace products for the AJP 4.5? Surely the parts get produced in such small numbers that the customer is inevitably going to be more of a "development partner" than a typical "end consumer" of mass produced item?
you mean some of them actualy do some thing?so thats why theswitches arnt labled. i cant complain i baught mine without hearing it run but it had oviousley been well cared for by the previovs owner and shees been good to me when i read the forum and see what dose go on with the things.
i think if you dont spend more than you can afford to loose and keep a lump in reserve, then youll get
smiles of fun out of theise overated hooligan machines

Yes you are right to a degree and that is quite acceptable if the product doesn't infer something different. However, if an ad infers that you will see a specific gain with proof, then that is what I would expect, if not, then don't put it in the ad in the first place. I started in another thread by asking a couple of simple questions to which I received no clear answers, I also contacted the suppliers/fitters of the parts and again I was given no clear answers. I have said enough about it all now, without saying too much
. I spent too much time at work dealing with suppliers/manufacturers worldwide who claim prestige, rights, amazing performance and VFM through their products and services, to know when something's marketed in the right/wrong manner, be it from small specialists to large multis. It's Sunday afternoon and that means only one thing....

I take it you dont own a TVR then.

What on earth is going on here? A well respected TVR specialist producing a perfomance upgrade for Cerbera owners should be something to celebrate. But instead the main response seems to be talk about being ripped off, disputes of the claimed gains and challenges to reveal the research and testing that has gone into the product and produce independant proof that it does as well as claimed. I can understand a certain amount of caution, but it's almost as if you *want* this to be a rip-off.
I don't get this attitude at all, and I don't think the people involved have done anything to deserve it.
I don't know what this product does or how well it works, but I've dealt with ACT and Mark long enough to know that they know a great deal about engine induction systems and tuning, and are not the sort of people to make the claims they're making without good reason. In fact from my dealings when I was looking into induction upgrades for the V8S, the first thing that impressed me was that Tim from ACT was happy to spend time explaining the options that were available to me and didn't press me to spend more than I needed to. Of course the second thing that impressed me was the speed of response once I'd placed the order, but then ACT do have a reputation for this. The final thing, and the one that impressed me the most, was that Tim's performance predictions for the system I eventually went for were bang on.
I appreciate that Tim had far more experience of RV8 systems (even back then) than he has of the Cerbera installation. It may be a while before he has feedback from enough cars to predict the performance of the Cerbera systems so accurately. But the results so far seem very encouraging. If I was Cerbera owner looking for an upgrade I'd be very excited at this new option, and starting to eye up the piggy bank.
I have no commercial interest in the subject.

Peter, you will very shortly have mail.
the confusion arrises because we aren't allowed to publish the facts on PH .. hence all the *beating around the bush* and attempts to guide people's thoughts in the right direction.
I'm going to put you in the picture on the events that have led to 5 page posts being censored, and my closing of my account with act and severing all ties with that company.
best wishes

I made the origonal point to draw to peoples attention that when dealing with so many different engines all starting at diffrent levels of ware and tune adding a performance gooody isn't an excact sience...(You have to try it!) TVR themselves are the biggest culprits when it comes to miss selling! If Tim's induction system does half of what it says I would be happy, just as I am with my Cerbera even though its about 70hp short of the advertised.
Keep up the good work all you AJP tuners.
