First time in the new abode walking to the local pub. ( way way way in the sticks )

Realised my torch is rather piss poor in the dark.

Any recommendation for something that would light up the northern hemisphere?

Thank you in advance

You just need an LED headtorch. Cree LED if necessary.

The world's brightest torch won't be much good if you are blinded by the reflection and having to recharge it every 5 min.

Sod that. POWAHHH!!!

The Olight X7R Marauder is quite nice at 12000 lumens max. Useful as a hand warmer too.

Edit to add, MC Bodge is also right. The OIight H2R Nova is a nice bit of kit too.

I have nothing to do with Olight, mind. I have some Nitecores as well smile

The Imalent might do at 100 000 lumens...

I have a couple of Nitecore rechargeable torches, pocket powerhouses and very good quality.

It takes about 15-20 mins walk to get to the pub - and 30 mins back biggrin

How long does this thing last?

Take it from a certified torchoholic - a Fenix PD35 is all the torch you’ll ever need... powerful, pocketable and bombproof.

I use a head torch for the walk stagger back from the pub as I find it much more convenient.

But I do usually have my dog with me to.

Surely you could just ask them nicely? Buying them a maglite seems a bit superfluous!

Probably about a minute...but what a bright minute! biggrin

I have this for when I walk my dog at night...
https://www.heinnie.com/nitecore-mh20gt

Will give you 1000 lumens for an hour, rechargeable and tiny. You'll not need 1000 lumens, so it'll last around 5-7hrs between charges.

I have the slightly larger 1800 lumen version too, but really, the tiny one is ideal for most purposes.

Cree x6, should be a whole 8 quid on the bay. You will get about 2 hours out of it and it's car headlight bright.

Basically this but with batteries included:
