Coming home througgh town last night and I spotted this:

(pics too big to post here)

I wonder if that rear wing (it was higher than the MX-5 hardtop) is necessary to get the giant 110bhp from the 1.6L engine on the ground at high speeds. Thought it was rather comical myself

That isn't a rear wing, it's shelving for brushes, scissors, shampoo, conditioner, hairdryers etc

Christ alive!

I can see it coming now... the next crisis to hit Boeing's production lines. 737's mysteriously unable to manouvre during flight becuase 300,... no 3,000, damned essex-boys have "borrowed" the tail planes for their xr-3's.

he he.

Nearly as bad as the new subaru wrx rice sti I saw the other day. Those things look so shite with bolt-on tack. If cars like the F1 and 360 can manage without bolt-on's, then these plastic fantastics should too.

ouch. this is an outrage! no car deserves this sort of degredation, especially a 5! you shouldve had a hacksaw with you... RICERS SUCK! Sure, some cars suit big wings, but are there any apart from top fuel dragsters that deserve this?!?!?! Jay-sus! Althouh this is nowhere near how bad it can get, sadly. poor mx5 who did this to you i grieve for you.

hehe i can't even imagine how ugly it would look with the roof off (I've seen it several times over the year and it's neve got the hardtop off) because with the flip-top off it must look all the bigger. Worst thing was, that wasn't the worst thing we saw last night, just didnt get pictires of them.... all the worst looking cars are driven by asians (well the ones that we saw were anyway) so I guess it's a cultural taste thing that we brits don't get.
Mind you my car's not to everyone's tastes either but i don't really give a toss. Most guys my age don't appreciate my car and i couldnt care less so I guess in some ways I'm like Mr. MX5 up there :P

(gotta love flatmates and their expensive digicams)

Heheh although my ricer mate came for a spin the other night and said that my car gets more looks than anything he's ever been in (coz NZ is basically jap imports only) and he's now thinking of finding himself something different.... maybe some of them can be saved after all

Wow I see one that looks exactly the same as that regularly. Must be the same car as Im sure theres not too of them.

When it had the rest of the Kit and not the wing it didnt look too bad for an MX-5 anyway.

Never seen it with the roof off either
