Front quarter panel grill popped out

Need some advice. The other day I hit a curb and scratched my right front quarter bumper.
The impact caused the front quarter grill to pop out of it's securing and I tried to squeeze/push it back in
but it wouldn't go. Upon further inspection I can see that it doesn't match/line up with the metal frame so
pushing it in won't do anything until it's aligned.
I tried even using lubricant or something slippery but worried if I push it harder or hit it, it might break
the grille.
Is there another way / proper way to be doing this?
Here are a couple pics. It looks like you can just push it back in but if you look behind the grill, the frame doesn't match up with the metal frame on the car...it's about a whole 3-4 mm off...I need to bend it somehow to make it slide back in unless there is another way
to do it?
