Replacing sky q router
Discussion
I want to replace my sky router because its terrible. Thankfully now i wont be in breach of contract by doing so!
anyway as far as im aware i need a router that supports DHCP option 61. Preferably the router will support wireless AX (Wifi6) and support mesh networking and have at least 4 x gig ethernet ports thats all i really need/want. Most of them seem to be router only opposed to modem/routers combined. Will any vdsl2 modem work with sky?

I don't think you can replace the Sky Q router, but what I've done is turned off wifi and instead have it plugged in to the Google Wifi Mesh. The Google wifi is much much more reliable than anything I had with Sky Q in the past. It also gives you some really neat controls over who and what can access the wifi and when. So I can group my son's devices together and set a 'bedtime' schedule so his wifi goes off at a specific time.

You don't want much then! If AX then you'll probably need to look at the higher end Asus Star Trek styled devices aimed at gamers. Still not clear if Sky really allow this though. "If you wish to use a modem or any other equipment that we have not supplied to you in order to
access Sky Broadband it is your responsibility to ensure it is compatible with Sky Networks and
we cannot guarantee that Sky Broadband will work with these."
Thats the t&c now they used to prohibit using other equipment with fiber but not now

Sky now do their latest Hub 4.2 which by all accounts is much better. You can even get it free by signing up to their new broadband boost service and claiming on their WiFi guarantee. They’ll send the new hub out and if this doesn’t fix it then send a tech team engineer to improve the wireless by adding boosters where required.
No idea why your thread got moved here.

Can’t help with the really techy questions but my replacement is still working fine.
