Subaru Wrx Sti 2.5T 2018 vs Golf R?
Discussion
This is the tough one.
I've always wanted an Impreza turbo, my favourite being the blob eye.
I like golf R's but you'll have to buy a massive dog, a tracker an a shotgun to keep hold of it (they are a favourite of the car thief).
Not sure what the new ones are like but early 2.5 subaru engines were poor and often went bang requiring a major rebuild.
Soo... Car I really like which might cost a fortune if the engine goes pop or...more reliable car that might get stolen.....
I'm gonna say Impreza and a put some money aside for a rebuild. No wait... golf and a massive dog.... No wait.... Ah, it's too hard, they are both awesome but both have a risk too.

My brother has a manual 17-plate Golf R, and my OH has a 15-plate WRX STI, so perhaps my experience can help a little... Having travelled in both (and driven the Subaru fairly extensively) I'd take the Subaru every time. Both cars are pretty firm out of the box - expected for the Subaru, but I was surprised to find the Golf just as busy on an uneven road. the Subaru sounds better, has far more character and (for me at least) better seats. On a damp road it's fantastic, and very playful, but can be a fairly tiring car to drive daily in stop-start traffic and around town. The Golf is easier to park and has a marginally better stereo.
