Think its Nearside, and only on full, slow lock. Feels like a brick is caught under the tyre kind of thump thump thump

CV Joint I guess ?

Either that, or something fouling the wheel.

No, you can feel it through the wheel, and its happened a couple of times but 8 miles apart....

I think he meant fouling the wheel outside the car, not inside it. A CV joint would be constant not intermittent

I had a Celica and had this problem. I jacked it up and reach in and removed a broken piece of coil. When you turn the wheel the spring top is not seated properly, scrapes and bangs as you shift it by turning.

Odd....the first thing I'd have done is head straight to a car park to see....and if still a problem straight back again.
