Can’t open door from inside...DB9

Interesting problem....

The inside door handle doesn’t open the drivers door. However, if I lock and then unlock the doors using the toggle switch (in the centre console) the door handle works fine.

The outside handle works all the time (in fact before I experimented with the lock/unlock button, I wound the window down to reach out to open the door), but feels clunky.

The wire inside the door rail is connected to the inside door handle and feels like it engages cleanly.

What might have failed in the door mechanism? For now I can use the lock/unlock routine, but I’d like to fix the problem properly.

I had the same issue in the Vantage, and it was the door locking mechanism that needed replacing. Apparently it's a fairly common issue - in the Vantage at least - and covered under warranty if you have one.

Thanks. If it’s that then I’ll not be trying a home repair. Can imagine replacing the lock and being not able to open the door.

No warranty, so will be heading to my nearest specialist next week, and coming back a few hundred pounds lighter.

If i remember correctly, cost was around EUR 350 at the main dealer including labor...

Also an MOT failure now so will need sorting
