Porsche Car Connect
Discussion
I have just picked up new Macan S which comes with 2 years free Porsche car connect.
My insurer did not require me to activate tracker so I haven’t . Looking at the car connect app this shows you the location
of the car and it appears that you can set up a geofence that’s will notify you if car is moved outside it.
It seems that only benefit of activating the tracker would be that Vodafone call centre rings you rather than relying on seeing the notification on your phone. Am I missing something?

You can disable remote services from the PCM, so it isn’t much use if your car is stolen by someone who has read the manual :-)
I had the remote services free for a year with my Cayenne, but haven’t bothered to pay the £80 per year renewal. It was a novelty to view MPG remotely and to be able to flash the lights or find the car on a map, but not that useful in the real world. I do find the onboard connected services like Amazon Music and Google online navigation very useful though, so I’ll renew them when they come up.
