Banned for safety reasons, all overtakes would have to be done in the pit strategy unless the driver ahead decided to yield the position.

The overall racing product would not be very different at all.

If you cannot overtake can you even consider you are in a race?

No, no - I think the OP has a point. Think about it:

- F1's green credentials would go through the roof, as all cars could could trundle around at Safety Car pace using loads less fuel
- Safety would be drastically improved as nobody would be going fast enough to crash (caveat: Max might find a way)
- All spectators could huddle around the pits because that's where the action would be
- We might get more than the "industry standard" 3-4 winners per season, if the majority of team resources were diverted to the strategy guys
- Different venues could be found because circuits themselves wouldn't have to meet safety standards, as long as pit lanes did
- Cars could be made to look a little less like Lego models built by visually impaired 4 year olds because aerodynamics would not be a consideration

Overall I see many benefits smile

Absolutely! Just cut it back to 1 short practice and finish after qualifying. That would achieve cost saving and green ambitions in one! Better still, just have every one use Playstations.

Dear me, how can a thread like this be even contemplated?

Seems OP was serious (or a serious troll)

This thread has a strong chance of ending up in the PH legendary threads section.....

This is a really weird season to choose to make that point.

And a really boring way of making a point.
