981 Cayman GT4 , Sport Chrono essential?

I am looking at a 2016 GT4 but it doesnt have chrono, as I understand it this only adds a lap timer and no different throttle maps like other non GT cars. Will this be a problem come resale or doesn't it matter ?

I have seen some for sale that has the club sport package and not the sports chrono, for me it would depend what options it already has, but from what I have seen for sale over the last year there are some strange ticks in the option box and some that should of been ticked but it’s all down to your preference as everyone’s opinion differs

It was £1085 for a clock, stopwatch and app that didn't/doesn't work properly from memory. On the 718 GT4 it's £336, so overpriced on the 981.

I personally wouldn't be bothered about having it when buying used.

Sports Chrono isn't an essential option - as you say its the clock (which i do like but its a matter of personal taste), lap timing functionality in PCM, and the CANBUS Wifi communication module for the Porsche Track Precision App.
Overall I'd say not worth it. If you want to do data logging there are far better options that are cheap, based upon smartphone as the display or better yet - just get a proper vBOX video.

Personally I think mine looks better with the clock than those I've seen without it. It's a nice, integrated feature in the dash...it's nothing like the original wart on the dash in the 987/997 series.

The dash does look like it has been design with the clock in mind, nice bit of jewellery.
Without it - the unlock and hazard buttons look like a bit of a low rent after-thought - just stuck in the middle there.

Really it's just a looks thing. I wouldn't have minded having it in mine, but it wasn't a deal breaker as it adds absolutely zero useful functionality other than the track precision app.....which apparently doesn't currently work with IOS13!

I can completely understand why people didn't bother speccing it, and arguably I'd rather have the dynamic lights (which mine has) than Sport Chrono. I didn't use the clock once on my 987....

I've got it but I could live without it although it looks better than what it can actually do. Leather dash is appealing to a lot of people. Many Clubsport spec don't have Sports Chrono so the tracke user must think its st.

I wanted Sat Nav as an essential but having got it and the limited use of the car I just don't use it at all. Plus it was outdated when fitted and is positively antique unless you fit the 3rd party ApplePlay module which will invalidate your warranty

Knowing what I know now I'd rather have worked out a good deal on a minimal spec car - bluetooth is the only essential I can think of. Extras in the secondhand market are all based on what people are prepared to pay. When you trade in anything over and above the minimum in my experience counts for nothing.
