“cannot send mail - the sender address was invalid”

For some reason I am now getting this message when trying to reply to emails from my BT email account on my iPad - I have not changed any settings recently.

I am running the latest iPad software and I don’t have any problems replying to the same email addresses from my iPhone. Not much help online - can anyone help?

(I’ve already rebooted my iPad etc).

Amy ideas on what might be causing this?

Cheers.

I had the same problem on my iPa. There are some issues with IMAP (and probably POP3) and IOS13. You need to go into the SMTP server settings for your mail account and make sure you fill in the username and password for the SMTP server.

Someone I know has ditched their BT email as they were going to start charging for it, but you say it works from your iPhone so maybe not this issue??

Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a try.

Also - and this is the cast for Office365, maybe for BT as well....

Make sure the senders address is the same as the SMTP authentication settings. For example, if your email address is "me@domain.com", you can't make the senders address "me@otherdomain.com" - done to fight spammers, I believe.

As I say, this is the case with Office365, worth checking on yours.
