I have been told that it would need to be programmed in once fitted, but i have read its just a straight swap also would i need to disconnect the battery which also once reconnected would have to be programmed in? or the car won't start, all seems a strange way to carry on.

Thanks

Not BMW related, but the door modules I work on, need software putting on them, specific to the vehicle.

Battery disconnect/reconnect, shouldn’t need anything. Might chuck up some DTC’s if they haven’t let the extended ignition die. So possibly a clear down at the same time as the SWDL. That said, I’d be saving time and disconnecting the door connector, long before I went to the battery smile

Doesn’t need reprogramming, you just need the relays swapping. I did them my self a few months back. All works fine now.

If you leave the battery connected you will probably set the alarm off on removal.

Disconnect the battery neg before removal and reconnect after. No other special procedure.
