Car is a 2015 vw amarok 2.0 bitdi 180bhp

Ok getting conflicting advice on oil manufacturers websites for which oil to use
some are saying 5w-30 which I assumed it would need and others are saying 0w-30

I’ve been using shell helix ultra for the last few years and they say to use shell helix ect 0w-30
Mobile 1 say to use 5w-30
And opie oils option for shell is to use helix hx8 ect 5w-30

None seem to advise shell helix ultra

Any advice?

That’s just it though the handbook doesn’t state which oil only that it needs to be vw 507.00 compliant

The 507.00 is more important than the difference between 5w/30 and 0w/30.

The 0W will be the better oil but as mentioned above the VW spec is probably more important.

At operating temperature there's absolutely no difference between a 0W-30 and a 5W-30. The lower winter weight just helps with starting on very cold mornings.

So the shell helix ultra 0w-30 which is vw 507.00 compliant is the best?

I don’t think you will ever get a conclusive answer on the viscosity.
Drop Opie an email and ask, they are very helpful. There used to be a thread running somewhere where you could ask for such advice but I can’t remember where.
