Perhaps it would be an idea to have the mechanic read what ever fault code/s is showing then rectify the fault, this will stop the EML from lighting up every month or so

Which engine and fuel system?

I had a 99 v70 tdi and it was a pig - it wasn't obdc compatible and had an early bosch can system. Only that model year.

iirc the bonnet badge was blue rather than black. msa16.2 ? something like that. needs bosch or vida to reset

Thanks for the replies.....there appears to be loads of them!!

The fault has been coming and going for years......never been able to get it fixed..... so it comes on and sometimes off within 5 steady miles, or on permanent.....reset...everything is fine...it has 241k on the clock smile

Thats what mine was. If you look on the volvo forums you'll find other people with the same issue.

Is the badge on the bonnet blue or black?

actually https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=27... suggests that you can tell by looking at the maf - i didnt knoew that - mine was indeed round

If you have the early one vol-fcr and some people had success with vag-com.
