New GoPro - which one?

My Hero 3 is a bit tired now and my Hero 2 is probably still rolling around the bottom of the Caribbean Sea. The wifi won't connect to my phone and the fascia is a bit worn. Battery is fecked so it's time for a change,

Gopro are currently offering up to £100 on your old one on a trade in. Seems pretty good deal to me.

Question is, Hero 8 Black or Max?

I've no real need for 360 recording that the Max offers but it's future proofing in a way?

I'll stick with GP as they still hit the top of the reviews and I have a ton of accessories.

Any experiences of either of these two cameras?

being bit of a dji fan i went with the osmo action after having many a gopro and absolutely love it. Mounts are interchangeable so one plus.

I know you mentioned gopro but maybe worth a look?

Yeh I had a look at the DJI, is good but all the online reviews T3, techradar etc all still rate GP as the best and as said, the trade in deal is the real maker.

Watching with interest, I am trying to decide the same, I think when using it as a normal action cam the gp8 wins but the 360 looks interesting.

The Max doesn't have Hypersmooth 2.0 or Timewarp 2.0, it also can't record in 4k.

I'd think of it more as a 360 version of a Hero 7 Black, I think it's a bit of a gimmick and would go with the Hero 8.
