Dancing style, Female PHers opinions wanted?
Discussion
Strange conversation cropped up on a night out this weekend, basically was talking to one of my female friends and the conversation moved onto dancing, she thought it was strange that blokes make all this effort to look good on a night out and make an effort with the females, then screw it all up by making a tit of themselves and not being able to dance!!
At this stage I like most blokes thought dancing was generally an alcohol induced movement that meant trying to get random arm and leg movements in time with the music and generally be happy with that, but oh no apprantlly there is much more to it.
Moving shoulders in time to music is a big no no........ bugger thats my usual technique!!
Apprantly ladies think that sexy dancing is keeping the shoulders flat and not moving them and generally just moving from the hips downwards plus arm movements in time to music.
She spent most of the night trying to teach me this "new" dancing technique. Which I admit was good fun and we had a laugh, but...
Now my questions are:
Ladies, is it true, you think this a sexy form of dancing?
Blokes, do you think this is complete bull shit and are a bit secptical like me? (at least until I get answers for first question back)
[small]Will go get my coat and hide now[small] :paperbag:

Most women can't dance either though!!!
The last club I was at, there were just as many birds doing air guitar as there were blokes.
(It was a Metal night though).
Proper dancing is b*llocks though anyway, unless you're a professional and you're making money from it - It's far more fun to simply rock out/rave your arse off/pogo til you can't stand up any more. Impressing birds is the last thing on my mind when I'm on the 'floor!

This is how you need to dance:

This is a video of me down the local disco. All the chicks come running. I'm the one half way through in the orange top.

But surely dancing is about expression. Even if your technique looks like it's going to result in three weeks of traction, surely the idea is to have fun? It becomes rather peculiar if people start worrying about their shoulders straying from 180°.
My motto is dance like noone's watching. It may be ungainly, but then I'm not trying to emulate Lionel Blair.

I thought the only form of dancing was moshing/pogoing?
Here we practice the finely choreographed sequence known as the 'Boro Shuffle'.
Approach dance floor nonchalently. Target drunken female.
Roughly in time with music (doesn't really matter), your gait should resemble the old Kia-Ora crow (it's too orangey for crows).
As you close in, from behind, extend arms to hip level and make spoons in pseudo-ragga stylee, moving in time with her (again doesn't really matter)then proceed to 'dance' in that way increasing pressure to particular areas but stil maintaining firm grasp on bottle of Corona.

Think more women can dance due to natural rhythm, where as most blokes look like they are trying to swat the imaginary fly while trying to look good.
Rubbish!
They can move in time with the music. Blokes can do that too, but it doesn't constitute dancing.
The fact is that unless they're doing Salsa, blokes wiggling their hips, shaking their arses and feeling themselves up think (or know) they look either gay, suspicious, hilarious, or all three of the above. That's why blokes don't do it.

Tough one. I do reckon your dancing style is proportional to how much you like the music though. For example, I can't stand hard house, trance or cheese, so I'll be very reluctant to dance to it and if I was pushed I would look stupid.
Dancing to rock music is a bit of a misnomer really as it's all about having a bit of a laugh with your mates, so headbanging and air guitar is de rigeur because it's fun to do when you're drunk.
If you're good at dancing, dance, but make sure you're definately good at it - people deluded into thinking they're sexy just die on the dancefloor for all to see.
