Buying from NI
Discussion
Any issues ? I'm looking at a main dealer car, three years old, around £30K and cheaper than counterparts over here.
The only thing I can think of is the MOT as for NI its 4 years. I guess the main dealer would do this a year early as part of the deal.
No issues with logistics I can fly over and ferry the car back but a little sceptical with buying unseen as I'm in southern England and I can see on the pics a kerbed alloy - would you trust a salesman to go over it with a fine tooth comb or do I really need to see it first ?
I'm happy to keep it on the NI plate as I quite like them, a bit different. Would the fact it was first reg in NI impact resale value, would the reg plate do the same. I know I can re register to a normal plate..I say normal as in this side of the water.

I've bought from NI on a fair few occasions, ask the salesman to do a walk around video for you (most will do this) & always book a return flight (explain to the salesman you have a three hour window to view the car before you have to fly back) that way you're under no pressure to buy & the salesman is under pressure to sell.
In over 30 occasions of buying in NI I've only flown home once.

Just the 30 ? :-)In over 30 occasions of buying in NI I've only flown home once.
Thanks. I can already see a damaged alloy, I guess I would simply want some honesty and Integrity but in my experience a walk around video doesn't pick up minor stuff that I would want doing.
I can fly with Flybe locally and would want just the one trip without messing around. I guess thats the issue with logistics.
Other than that I guess no real issue other than asking them to slap an MOT on it as its just over the 3 years.
